Hello Louis:

I hope this note finds you well.

You may have learned that I transferred my membership to Bathesda Lutheran Church, New Haven, this fall.

But HLD continues to be a program I wish to support.

In lieu of Christmas gifts, I often give to a special charity in celebration of my friendship with friends. Anna and Roy Veit have ties, through family heritage, with Haiti. I know they will appreciate this gift to “HLD” in their names.

I am sending them a copy of the “BANNER” article you wrote early in 2005.
Has a newsletter been produced? If so, could I have a copy and possibly be on the mailing list? I wish you all the best. I look forward to any current news and information I receive.

God Bless,

Joan Gibney

To whom it may concern:

My name is Stacy Bastien and I am a graduate student at the State University of New York at New Paltz, majoring in Speech-Language Pathology and a candidate for a teacher's certification. I am born of Haitian parents and consider myself Haitian.

I have been thinking about different ways in which I can help my people in Haiti. I know I do not have much now, but I was thinking on a long-term basis. While visiting HaitiXchange.com I came upon the documentary "Le Pied Piper de La Gonave." This documentary not only touched my heart, but it impressed me very much because the visions the organization, Haiti Lumiere de Demain, is in line with the vision I possess and the work that I would like to fulfill when I eventually start working in my field. However, I am so impressed with the work that the dedicated people of this organization is doing that I would like to volunteer my time when I am not in school to help the organization and the children of Haiti. After completion of my Master's degree I would like to eventually be an active member of this organization.

Now, I currently live on campus, therefore I have somewhat of a limited mobility of how much I can do, but I will have a month off for the Christmas break and if there is anything that the organization is working on and needs help with, I would be glad to help. During the break I will be in NYC (Brooklyn). I would like to receive information on how I could possible join the organization and steps I can take to help this organization achieve its goal. I would like for someone to contact me as soon as possible.

Thank you,

Stacy Bastien

Hello Mr. Elneus,

I am writing to you because of my interest in Haiti. My parents are from Petit-Goave and Port-au-Prince. I gained knowledge about your organization from Steve McElhennon. I met with him in Washington, D.C. during an informational interview with Fannie Mae. I am a second-year law student at the University of Connecticut School of Law in Hartford.

If there is any way for me to help out with the organization, I would be available to do so and I would certainly like to attend any events that are put on by your organization to learn more. I am part of the National Haitian Student Alliance www.nhsai.org and there could be other possible students who may be interested in aiding in any capacity available.

Thank you,

Dear Louis,

Thanks for your call - I'm sorry I missed talking to you. We both want to wish you bon voyage on your way to Haiti. We think that the solution, or at least the only good approach to the problems in Haiti, is a generational span. We need to think of the next generation, and how they will grow up and be educated, and what sort of society THEY will build for themselves and for their children. Tackling the education system is a very tall order, but we think it is definitely looking in the right direction. We admire your courage, and wish you all the best in your very worthwhile endeavours.

All the best wishes,

Jamie

Dear Friends:

Please accept these donations from my wife, Dr. Ingrid A. Lehmann, and from me, with our sincere best wishes for your mission. Sincerely,

yes, guys, that's what we need. Keep up the good work for the future of our country, because our government already gave up. They go all in one way: steal, steal!
