Volunteering

We would like to thank Ms. Tricia Turney, Director of public relations at Barnes and Noble, Westport and Norwalk, and Eileen Lehen, general manager, Borders Bookstore, Fairfield, who afforded HLD the opportunity to wrap gifts at their stores for the past couple holiday seasons. In addition to raising much-needed funds, it gave us a unique opportunity to share our work with a wide range of individuals on a one on one basis.

We also would like to thank those who volunteered over the holiday season and donated their time to wrap gifts at Barnes & Noble stores (Westport and Norwalk) and Borders’s bookstore in Fairfield.

They are:
Ms. Lisa Boland
Ms. Hattie Clayburn
The Bowie Family (Renee, Scott, Alyssa and Callie)
Ms. Immacula Cann
Ms. Cathy Cann
Ms. Ann Guili
Mr. Andrew Craycraft
Mr. James Holland
Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Moura
Ms. Sherly Moreau

HLD Welcomes New Interns from Sacred Heart University

HLD welcomes interns Lauren Black and Vanessa Ouellette. Miss Black is a senior from Sacred Heart University and will be graduating in May with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Global Studies. Her various projects include developing the 21/21 Campaign and other fundraising events. She also helps HLD in updating the newsletter. After graduation, Miss Black will stay with HLD as the Director of Development and Planning.

"I truley believe in the basic human right of education for all children and strive to do everything I can to assit in its realization," she says, "I look forward to becoming an active member in the international community."

Miss Ouellette is a freshman at Sacred Heart University interning in the fundraising division of HLD. Her projects include researching and creating a foundation database for further funding, as well as small marketing projects.

The organization relies exclusively on the generosity of private individuals, corporations and foundations to help fund its educational and environmental programs. HLD does not receive any support, financial or in-kind from any government. To date, all of Haiti Lumiere de Demain’s programs are funded solely by funds from private individuals. We are always looking for financial and volunteers’ help to implement their mission goals.
